Cuisinart CCG100 CCG-100 Portable Outdoor Charcoal Grill Bundle Review

I purchased the Cuisinart CGG-200 All-Foods 12,000-BTU Tabletop Gas Grill over a year ago and later, added the portable stand for the grill.I have been very pleased with both.Why then, buy the charcoal version?I'm somewhat of a charcoal fanatic and food grilled over lump charcoal just tastes better in my opinion.I have read reviews of the grill on Amazon and decided that if I was going to purchase it, I might as well get the stand and the cover at the same time. Out of the box, the grill is very easy to assemble and takes only a couple of minutes to set up.

I really like the porcelain enamel finish on the body and the lid as this eases cleanup and ensures that rusting won't be a problem.Though I would have prefered a cast iron grate like the one shipped with the gas model, the enameled steel grate will make cleanup a snap.The adjustable top and bottom vents ensure adequate temperature control and there is enough room to bank the coals for indirect grilling.The grate lifting feature is a nice and easy to use function that allows for adding more charcoal or banking coals to the side.The only down side to the grill is the aluminum charcoal tray.Experience leads me to expect to replace this every year or so, depending on how often that I use the grill.

Cleaning the grill after use is easier than with most charcoal grills.As I stated earlier, the enameled finish can be wiped clean and I often use a spray of oven cleaner (enameled surfaces only) on stubborn stains. Disposing of spent coals is fairly easy as well...just make sure that the coals have cooled completely.

One last thing: Use a grill mitt when using the handle on the lid as it gets quite hot!Other than that minor concern, I really like this grill a lot.Cuisinart may be a late entry into the grill market, but they have done their homework on this one!Buy the bundle...you'll only end up buying the stand and cover at a later date and the bundle is shipped for FREE!
